Gone With The Wind
Playing With The Alphabet Blocks
If I write ‘fire’ on a piece of paper
and place it in your hand,
Will it burn you? No.
Then why does your heart hurts
with the spoken words mindlessly uttered?
You hold it inside till it cremates your soul.
If you are willing and be a witness to your mind,
it will soon be gone with the wind and will not bind.
Author’s note:
Thank you Margaret Honton for being an inspiration.
Her piece “Building a Poem” inspired me to write this. She says
“Build a poem the way a toddler
plays with alphabet blocks:
trains at first, towers and bridges later
(so much hanging in the balance),
tunnels eventually or maybe never,” (Margaret Honton)
I am trying to play with the alphabet blocks and see what happens. This is a learning process. There is no need to worry about the rhyme, meter, and other technicalities. I might get a hang of it eventually.
Like a fearless toddler, I am not willing to be restrained by the fear of non-compliance with the rules of poetry.
Read the full poem by Margaret Honton and get inspired.
